Branding is a business decision. Treat it like one.
I work with founders, business owners, and decision-makers who are serious about their brand — not looking for the cheapest option, but the right one.
A logo is the beginning of a conversation — not the end of one. At Northern Toad, branding starts with strategy. Before a single mark gets made, I dig into who you are, who your customers are, and what your brand needs to accomplish. The visual work that follows isn't decoration. It's a business tool.
Whether you're launching something new or evolving something established, I bring both the strategic thinking and the craft to get it right — the kind of work you'll still be proud of five years from now.
Most designers wait to be told what to make.
I don’t work that way.
How it works.
01 — Discovery Call
Before anything else, we talk. I want to understand why you're here, what you're trying to achieve, and what success looks like to you. I also want to understand your customers — because a brand that doesn't speak to them doesn't work, no matter how good it looks.
02 — Brand Questionnaire
After our call, I send a focused questionnaire that goes deeper on your business, your audience, your competitive landscape, and your aspirations. This isn't busywork — it's research that directly shapes the creative.
03 — Research & Strategy
I dig into your category, your competitors, and the white space where your brand can own something. This is where strategy meets instinct.
04 — Concept Development
I develop brand concepts with intention — each one grounded in strategic reasoning and positioned to spark a real conversation. I present work with context, not just visuals, because understanding why a direction works is as important as how it looks.
05 — Refinement
This is where we collaborate. Your feedback shapes the direction and I refine with purpose — pushing toward the version of your brand that's not just something you like, but something that works.
06 — Final Delivery
You receive a complete brand package: logo files in every format, a defined color palette, typography for print and digital, and brand guidelines that keep everything consistent long after our work together ends.

In Practice
Groundwork PT
When Katie Lee launched Groundwork PT, she needed more than a logo — she needed a brand that communicated credibility, warmth, and expertise to patients who were often navigating recovery and vulnerability.
Through a focused discovery process, we identified the emotional and functional values that needed to come through in every touchpoint. The result was a brand identity that Katie and her patients immediately connected with — cohesive, professional, and distinctly hers.
“I really liked all of the starting point designs that were presented — no duds. I just fell in love with the one we ended up with more!”
Katie Lee, PT/DPT/OCS — Owner, Groundwork PT
